Compost...
I know I did a post on this last week but though I would do another as we did it slightly different... We got 8 more bags of horse manure & started to compost most of it in a couple of old Wetpot reservoirs & Koos old Strawberry barrel as it had heaps of drainage holes in it... This time I added lawn clippings from the day before, that had already started to steam, & the manure... This was well mixed together & layered into the bins/barrel with a fertiliser mix... I use a 500ml vitamin bottle to measure out 2 scoops of 5 in 1 fertiliser, 1 ½ scoops of Blood n bone & 2 scoops of cracker dust... This was then watered to help the cooking process... The drums we did last week have already shrunk by a third & are looking like they may be ready in the next 2 weeks...
Other Potterings...
Koos Strawberry barrel was infested with ants due to it having an inner plastic lining they could use to build a dry nest... The surviving plants were rescued & planted in the old Rainbow Silverbeet bed at the end of Bed #2 after some 5 in 1 & worm castings were added...We also planted out another Pineapple crown & a Rosemary that had been hiding under the back stairs in a small pot... The Cucumbers have come along well during the week... I added a small piece of shade cloth along the trellis as the morning sun is causing a fair bit of wilting... As soon as the roots find the water in the base of the bed in a week or so they shouldnt need it I think...
Weare about to get hit with a bit of a nasty storm so might leave it there for now...
Have a great one all....
